Thomas L. Kempner, Jr.

Thomas L. Kempner, Jr. is the Executive Managing Member of Davidson Kempner Capital Management LP.  Mr. Kempner joined Davidson Kempner in December 1984 and became Executive Managing Member in January 2004.  Prior to joining Davidson Kempner, he was a Vice President of First City Capital Corporation, where he traded a fixed-income portfolio.  From April 1981 to February 1983, Mr. Kempner was a Vice President of Loeb Partners, where he traded a bond arbitrage portfolio and headed the firm’s money-market department.  From June 1978 to February 1981, he was an associate at Goldman, Sachs & Co.  Mr. Kempner graduated from the Harvard Business School in 1978, with distinction, and from Yale College in 1975, magna cum laude.  Mr. Kempner is presently the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Central Park Conservancy, a member of the Board of Trustees of Harlem Village Academies, a member of the Board of Directors of Harvard Management Company and a member of the Boards of Trustees of Mount Sinai Health System, Inc.  Mr. Kempner also serves on the board of the USA Cycling Development Foundation and the investment committee of The St. Bernard’s School in New York.  Mr. Kempner participates in competitive Stand Up Paddle Boarding and is an avid rock climber.  He is a passionate supporter of education and performing arts.  He has lived in New York City all of his life.
