MFA Hosts Second Annual Global Finance Forum

MFA this month co-hosted the second annual Global Finance Forum, entitled “Capital Markets, Growth & the Economy of Tomorrow.” The forum, which coincided with the IMF-World Bank meetings in Washington, DC, began with keynote remarks from Federal Reserve Governor Lael Brainard. Following the Governor’s remarks were two question and answer sessions: one between MFA President and CEO Richard H. Baker and Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commission Vice-President in charge of Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union, and the second between FIA President and CEO Walt Lukken and Chief Economist to the Vice-President Mark Calabria. The event concluded with Sir Jon Cunliffe, Deputy Governor of the Bank of England delivering remarks and participating in a question and answer session with SIFMA President and CEO Ken Bentsen.

During their conversation, Mr. Baker and Vice-President Dombrovskis discussed the European Commission’s Capital Markets Union initiative, industry concerns on portfolio delegation, data security, sustainable finance, and Brexit.
