In conjunction with its advocacy efforts in Washington and abroad, Managed Funds Association (MFA) is working to reshape the media’s distortions and the public’s misperceptions about the hedge fund industry. MFA is able to promote the benefits of alternative investments, including hedge funds, to the global financial marketplace as a whole, in a way that individual managers are unable to do on their own. MFA operates as a clearinghouse of information by virtue of its representation of the industry so that it can engage the media and the public on a variety of issues impacting the industry without a spotlight shining on any one particular manager. MFA is able to dispel myths, to encourage understanding, and to disseminate messages to the media and among the general public with a uniform, collective voice to ensure consistent clarity.
