MFA membership provides the vital resources necessary for MFA to represent the alternative investment industry in many critical areas such as government relations, lobbying, education, international outreach, media relations, public relations, industry research and resource development.

MFA depends on its members’ participation to construct the association’s goals, initiatives and policy positions.  The alternative investment industry’s many diverse members build consensus at MFA to form a unified industry voice.

This year, more than ever before, MFA became the focal point for interaction with U.S. policy makers, international regulators, global market participants and the media worldwide.  From the halls of Capitol Hill and legislative chambers in the states, to London, Europe, India, Japan and China, MFA provided a voice of reason and advocated thoughtful consideration of potential reforms that threatened to imperil investor confidence and impair the free flow of capital.

As our industry grows and gains prominence in the global markets, MFA is expanding apace. Just recently, the Association began to implement a long-range strategic plan designed to build out its infrastructure and staff in order to provide our members with even more representation, products and services.

For example, the Association recently initiated:

  • Members-only forums designed to stimulate high level discussions among groups of professionals such as private dialogues with the SEC and  forums designed specifically to unite CFOs, CROs, COOs, GCs and CCOs;
  • Inside the Beltway, a weekly compendium of pertinent updates on legislative and regulatory issues;
  • Unique seminars including exclusive opportunities to hear from key regulators;
  • Frequent occasions to meet with Congressional leaders in Washington and New York;
  • Vast representation in Washington including more than 200 meetings every year with policy makers and their staffs;
  • Testimony at critical Congressional hearings;
  • Scores of comment letters on issues of importance to industry professionals; and
  • International initiatives geared toward global harmonization.
