Summary:

At the end of 2011, Ernst & Young and Greenwich Associates surveyed more than 40 CROs, CCOs and other heads of risk management (risk managers) in the asset management industry. Survey participants were drawn from a list of the largest US asset management firms. The picture of the current state of the risk management function painted by this study is complex and highlights some key differences between smaller and larger firms. Broadly, the influence of risk managers appears to be increasing, but they face tremendous challenges. Many risk managers say that they are under-resourced, potentially leaving them illequipped to deal with major issues such as the shifting regulatory landscape.
