The global hedge fund industry is diverse and is concentrated in some of the largest economic centers in the world.
While many of the largest firms are centrally located in New York City and the surrounding states of Connecticut and New Jersey, many hedge funds are headquartered or have offices in places as diverse as London, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia. The industry comprises nearly 10,000 hedge funds across the globe.*
The Managed Funds Association represents firms that manage eighty-percent of the assets of the top 100 hedge funds and managed futures funds. Fund managers also have an increasingly global and diverse investor base.
