Zero Coupon Bond

a Bond that is issued with substantial OID and calls for no Interest payments or coupons, only a principal payment at maturity. Investors earn interest from the difference between the discounted price of the bond and its par (or redemption) value (e.g., US Treasury bills, US savings bonds). See also Discount Notes.
