Staple Financing

a financing package being offered up by the investment bank that is acting as the sell-side adviser in connection with the auctioning of a Target company. Called “staple” because the financing package is “stapled” to the bid materials that are sent out to potential buyers. Staple Financings are a useful way for the investment bank acting as the adviser to a company that is putting itself on the auction block to also be involved in the financing of the acquisition by the buyer.
