Investment Advisers Act of 1940 (Advisers Act)

a United States federal law created to regulate the actions of Investment Advisers. According to the Advisers Act, unless qualified for an exemption, federally regulated advisers must register with the SEC and abide by the law as set out by the Advisers Act. Non-registered investment Advisers must comply with certain provisions of the Advisers Act.
