MFA Home Print this Congressional Committees

The most important phase of the legislative process is action by a Congressional Committee. The Committees intensively consider any proposed measure and give the public its opportunity to be heard. U.S. Represenatives and Senators perform a tremendous amount of work in this phase. Any measure affecting a particular area of the law is referred to the appropriate Committee as determined by the House or Senate rules.
