Compliance 2014 continued in New York this morning with a number of robust roundtable discussions. One such session focused on European issues, including AIFMD, MiFID, and EMIR. Participants spoke at length about the impact of the laws on European managers. Participants were urged to keep an eye out for changes. The discussion focused in large part on issues surrounding AIFMD, including reverse solicitation and marketing issues. Strategic decision making and best approaches for building or growing a business in Europe were also covered during the roundtable session. Participants also provided feedback to the group and sought perspectives and thoughts from each other on a number of topics related to the European private placement process.
Gus Black, Partner, Dechert LLP; Darcy Bradbury, Managing Director, the D. E. Shaw group; and John Schneider, Advisory Partner, KPMG LLP were the roundtable discussion leaders.
MFA’s blog will continue providing updates from Compliance 2014 throughout the day.
